A chemical peel works by applying an acid solution to the skin surface at a controlled concentration and contact time, causing the outer layers of the epidermis to loosen and shed over the days that follow. The depth of that process, and therefore the clinical outcome, depends on the agents used, their concentration, and how the skin is prepared and managed. The Mesoskinline Global Peel combines three acids: salicylic acid, which is oil-soluble and penetrates the pore lining to address congestion and superficial acne; lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that hydrates as it exfoliates and targets surface pigmentation; and resorcinol, a phenolic compound that disrupts melanin synthesis and contributes to the medium-depth action of the formulation.
Medium-depth peels sit in a clinically meaningful tier. Superficial peels, the kind available in high-street salons, work on the very outer layer of the epidermis and produce modest, temporary results. Deep peels require sedation and significant recovery time. Medium-depth peels penetrate to the papillary dermis, stimulating a wound-healing response that produces new collagen and elastin as the skin repairs, while still carrying a recovery profile that most patients can manage within a working week.

As the treated skin sheds during the peeling phase, the tissue underneath completes a repair sequence that improves dermal organisation over the weeks that follow. Irregular pigmentation fades as melanin is disrupted and the fresh epidermis forms. Pore appearance improves as sebaceous congestion is cleared. Skin texture becomes more even, and fine lines at the surface soften as new collagen fills in below.
Chemical peels are appropriate for patients with uneven skin tone, post-inflammatory pigmentation, mild to moderate sun damage, persistent congestion, or surface textural concerns. They complement injectable treatments well, treating skin quality from the outside while treatments such as profhilo or skin boosters address it from below. Peels are not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, on actively inflamed or infected skin, or immediately before significant sun exposure.

Skin type and pigmentation risk
Darker Fitzpatrick skin types carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation following any medium-depth peel. Krystian assesses this at consultation and may recommend a different treatment sequence, or a preparatory phase using targeted skincare, before proceeding.
Timing and lifestyle
A chemical peel followed by significant sun exposure before the skin has fully recovered is a reliable way to create the pigmentation problem you were trying to treat. Timing matters: allow at least two weeks before any sun holiday, and commit to SPF 50 every morning during and after the peeling phase.
Realistic expectations per session
A single peel will improve skin clarity and surface texture noticeably. It will not erase deep pigmentation or structural laxity in one session. A course of three, spaced four weeks apart, is the appropriate plan for patients with moderate pigmentation or texture concerns.

Arrival and skin assessment
Skin is assessed under light for texture, pigmentation, congestion, and sensitivity. Medical history and current skincare routine are reviewed. Photographs are taken.
Preparation
The skin is thoroughly cleansed and degreased. This step determines how evenly the peel solution penetrates and is not abbreviated.
Application and timing
The Mesoskinline Global Peel solution is applied in controlled passes. Contact time is monitored carefully; the skin is observed throughout for the response that signals appropriate penetration depth.
Neutralisation and aftercare brief
The peel is neutralised and a soothing, non-active product applied. Written aftercare instructions are reviewed, including the skincare products to use and avoid during the peeling phase.

Will it hurt?
Most patients experience a mild to moderate stinging and warmth during application. This is normal and peaks during the period of maximum acid activity before subsiding as the peel is neutralised. A fan is used to ease discomfort during the session. The skin may feel tight and sensitive for twenty-four hours after treatment.
When will I peel, and how much?
Visible peeling typically begins on day two and is most noticeable between days three and five. The degree varies between patients and depends on skin thickness, prior peel history, and skincare preparation. Some patients experience light flaking; others peel more extensively. Both are within the normal range.
Can I have a peel if I have darker skin?
Darker Fitzpatrick skin types can receive chemical peels, but the selection of formulation, concentration, and contact time requires more careful calibration. Krystian assesses this specifically at consultation. Where there is a meaningful risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a preparatory skincare phase or a different treatment modality may be recommended first.
How many sessions do I need?
One session produces a clear improvement in surface clarity and texture. For patients with moderate pigmentation, acne scarring, or chronic congestion, a course of three sessions spaced four weeks apart is the appropriate plan.
