Skin boosters are a category of injectable hyaluronic acid products designed to hydrate and remodel the skin from below the surface, rather than to add volume or to soften a muscle. Profhilo, Sunekos, Restylane Skinboosters and polynucleotides all sit here. Different molecules, slightly different jobs, the same underlying principle.
The work the skin can no longer do for itself. By the mid-thirties, the skin stops producing hyaluronic acid at the rate it used to. The reservoir shrinks. The surface looks drier, sleep shows on the face faster, and any treatment layered on top, anti-wrinkle or filler, reads slightly less well because the canvas underneath is thinner.
Profhilo, specifically. The category-defining product.
Profhilo is the most studied of the skin booster class in the UK. It is a hybrid cooperative hyaluronic acid that spreads under the skin rather than staying as a discrete deposit. Two sessions, four weeks apart, are the protocol every reputable trial has used. The result reads as a quieter, brighter, more rested version of the face. Not a younger face. The same face, better hydrated.
We sit Profhilo alongside polynucleotides on the menu because the two products work in different parts of the same problem. Profhilo is the hydration layer. Polynucleotides are the regenerative layer. A course of one followed by a course of the other is the protocol our standing patients run twice a year, and it is the single most under-recognised investment a face can make at any age above thirty-two.

The product choice
Profhilo, polynucleotide, Sunekos or a layered protocol. Mirror in hand, Krystian shows you what each product is solving for and which makes sense first. The plan is agreed before any vial is opened.
Placement
Five bio-aesthetic points on each side of the face for Profhilo. Multiple pinpricks for polynucleotides. The needle is the smallest in clinical use. Most patients describe it as briefly hot, never sharp.
Aftercare brief
Pinprick swellings settle within 24 hours. No heat, no exercise, no makeup for 12 hours. Second session four weeks from today for a Profhilo course. We text you at the seven-day mark to read it with you.

What's the difference between Profhilo and filler?
Filler adds volume in a specific place. Profhilo doesn't. Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid that spreads under the skin and remodels the tissue from within, signalling the skin's own cells to produce more collagen and elastin. The result is hydration, brightness and improved texture, not a change in shape or proportion.
When will I see the result?
Most patients see a glow within the first ten days. The full read is at six to eight weeks, after the second session. Profhilo is a course, not a single appointment, and the cellular response is what we're paying for, not the gel itself. We text you at day seven and day twenty-eight to read the result with you.
How long does it last?
The structural improvement from the cellular response is in the four-to-six-month range, with most patients running a maintenance course every six months. The skin you build with a booster course is the skin you keep, but the hydration foundation needs topping up at a sensible cadence.
Is this an upsell?
No, and the order tells you why. Every reputable practitioner above master's-level training would recommend a hydration foundation before they recommend additional volumising or wrinkle-softening work. Most clinics treat boosters as a secondary upsell because the commercial incentives are inverted. We treat them as the first conversation.

What we tell you before we begin.
- Pinprick swellingsNormal for the first 24 hours, particularly with the bio-aesthetic-point Profhilo protocol. They settle into the surrounding tissue.
- Mild redness and tendernessResolves within 12 to 24 hours. We avoid makeup over the injection points for the first half-day.
- Occasional bruisingLess common than with structural filler placements. Reduced by avoiding alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours pre-treatment.
- Asymmetry on early readsRare. If we see it at week two, we revise complimentary at the next session in the course.
- ExclusionsPregnancy, breastfeeding, active facial infection, autoimmune flare, prior allergic reaction to HA-class product, or current treatment with immunosuppressants.
